Morten S. Olesen PhD, Associate Professor, the Laboratory of Molecular Cardiology (LMC), the Department of Cardiology, The Heart Centre, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen Univeristy Hospital and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Research focused on genetic causes of atrial fibrillation in a group of highly selected patients with early-onset lone atrial fibrillation. Has identified a number of genetic mutations associated with the arrhythmia.
Extensive experience on genetic screening and implementation of technologies, such as Next Generation Sequencing. Overall objective is to provide and disseminate new knowledge regarding the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying genetic causes of atrial fibrillation by genetic screening of patients with lone atrial fibrillation and families with accumulation of atrial fibrillation from the entire country of Denmark.
