Professor II, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo. Head of Center for Clinical Heart Research and Section Head of R&D, Department of Cardiology Oslo University Hospital Ullevål.

Research areas: Clinical translational cardiovascular research. Along with randomized intervention studies, in vivo and ex vivo studies on pathophysiological mechanisms in cardiovascular disease and atherothrombosis. Circulatory biomarkers, cellular expression and genetic regulation related to thrombosis, inflammation and immunity, endothelial function, gut microbiota, adipositas and diabetes.

Projects: OMega-3 fatty acids in Elderly patients with Myocardial Infarction (OMEMI); Mechanisms of Ageing in AF (OMEMI); Troponins in atrial fibrillation (TROPAF); Predictors for recurrence of atrial fibrillation after electrical cardioversion (PRE-ELECTRIC); PRediction and detection of Occult Atrial fibrillation in patients after acute Cryptogenic stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack (PROACTIA).
