Afib.no network members Michiel Rienstra and Isabelle C. Van Gelder recently co-authored an article in New England Journal of Medicine under this title. Interestingly, they demonstrated that a wait-and-see approach was noninferior to early cardioversion in achieving a return to sinus rhythm at 4 weeks in patients presenting to the emergency department with recent-onset, symptomatic atrial fibrillation.
