Dr Jocasta Ball (BBiomedSc(Hons), PhD) is a Senior Research Fellow, Epidemiologist, and Health Services Researcher within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. Dr Ball’s research focuses on the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, particularly atrial fibrillation. Dr Ball uses large population-based longitudinal data, clinical trial datasets, and linked data to investigate the burden and management of AF nationally and internationally. Dr Ball is a Visiting Academic at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø within the Department of Community Medicine under the mentorship of Professor Maja-Lisa Løchen and A/Professor Ekaterina Sharashova.

Research areas: Cardiovascular epidemiology, burden, prevention, and optimal management of atrial fibrillation.

Projects:

  • Body mass index, atrial fibrillation, and atrial fibrillation prognostic outcomes in the Tromsø Study.
  • Blood pressure, blood pressure trends and risk of atrial fibrillation in the Tromsø Study.
  • Risk factors, quality of life and prognostic outcomes associated with specific types of atrial fibrillation; the Tromsø Study.
